What does the Gel Hand Soap smell like? Can I add an essential oil?

Our hand soap is fragrance free, which means we don't add any fragrance or any masking chemicals to cover the natural scent from our ingredients. If you detect a scent, that is the smell of our base (main) ingredients. 

You can add essential oils to Branch Basics without adversely affecting how it works. A small drop in the bottle will do. We recommend using only wildcrafted or high-quality, organic essential oils processed without solvents. However, if there is anyone chronically ill or immune-challenged in the home, it is best to go without, as the scent can trigger an immune response. If you choose to add essential oils, be aware that the products may now be irritating to the eyes, skin, and lungs. Also, do not be alarmed if the solution turns slightly cloudy. Most importantly, some essential oils should not be used around children, pets or pregnant women so be sure to keep out of reach.

What is the pH of the Gel Hand Soap?

The pH of our hand soap is between 5 and 6, which is slightly acidic and is what makes it skin neutral.

Why is the Gel Hand Soap so expensive?

The Hand Soap is comparable in price to other luxury hand soaps. What defines our hand soap though is our premium and innovative ingredients. We went above and beyond to source the highest quality ingredients that are safe, non-irritating and nourishing. Also, one bottle will provide over 200 hand washes and our refill pouch will refill the bottle twice! You only need a dime size amount of soap to wash your hands, so a little goes a long way!

Why is there a color difference from one Gel Hand Soap to another?

The color difference you are seeing is completely normal. There is always a variation in color from batch to batch, and it's the normal variation of a natural product. Some cloudiness may appear if exposed to extreme cold for long. The liquid may become a little bit thinner if exposed to extreme heat for long.

Can I purchase extra empty Gel Hand Soap bottles for my other bathrooms or can I use my own bottles?

Unfortunately, we are not able to offer empty Gel Hand Soap bottles at this time. We only have filled Gel Hand Soap bottles available.

We do not see any issues with using your own bottles, as long as they are a conventional soap pump.  Just make sure it has a sufficient pump capacity to deliver the right amount of soap. Also, make sure your bottle is thoroughly cleaned from the prior soap to ensure no interactions!

We do not recommend using the foamer pump with the Gel Hand Soap. It will clog up the foamer pump.

Do I have to clean the Gel Hand Soap bottle out between refills?

No, you do not need to clean your bottle between refills. However, if the bottle is left empty for over a week, it would be a good idea to wash and rinse with some hand soap, Concentrate or household vinegar.

How long will the Gel Hand Soap last?

You only need to use a very small amount for each hand wash, about the size of a dime, so this Gel Hand Soap can produce over 200 hand washes per bottle.

The refill pouch will fill the bottle twice and we know from testing that the Gel Hand Soap is good for 2 years.

Does the Gel Hand Soap bottle or pump come in a different style or finish?

Unfortunately, we are not offering different colors or finishes at this time.

How do I prevent my Gel Hand Soap from leaking and globbing?

The soap that solidifies on the tip of the pump is due to the thickening agents in the soap. 

To prevent this from happening, we recommend when dispensing soap from the pump, to gently swipe off any excess product that may be dripping from the edge of the nozzle to prevent further build-up or dripping.
